5 Reasons You Need Pressure Washing For Your Backyard Deck | D and D PaintingBackyard decks are fantastic additions to any home, especially if you enjoy being outdoors and hosting parties or family get-togethers. Whether you built it yourself or it came with the home, a deck can be a great source of pride for the homeowner. However, decks also require significant upkeep, especially if they are made of natural wood. They can easily become dirty, stained or even damaged if you don’t take proper care of them.

One great way to keep your deck looking clean and free of debris is through pressure washing. If you have a pressure washer yourself, then you understand the benefits very well. But if you have never had your deck hosed down with a pressure washer, you’re missing out on a very convenient cleaning process. Here are five reasons you should pressure wash your deck:

1. You’re Going to Apply Stain

This is one of the most common reasons for pressure washing. You don’t want any debris or dirt between the stain and the wood underneath, and a good pressure washing will ensure all of that junk is removed.

2. You Haven’t Cleaned It in Ages

Of course you should be cleaning your deck regularly, but sometimes life gets in the way. If you have let your deck become filthy, a pressure washer is going to be the most efficient method to get it clean again.

3. You Want It to Last

Just like any other part of the home, a deck needs proper, regular maintenance in order to stand the test of time. Your deck has to endure the elements year-round, and it can pick up all manner of nasty debris.

4. You Want the Job Done Fast

There are other methods you can use to keep your deck clean, including some that are more environmentally friendly. But nothing is going to be quicker than a pressure washer.

5. Price is Not An Issue

Unless you own a pressure washer (not many people do), you’ll either have to purchase or rent one, or hire someone who can do the pressure washing for you. It won’t be prohibitively expensive, but it will certainly cost more than a simple mop and broom.
