Freshen Up Your Interior Paint for the Holidays | D and D Painting

Getting ready for the holidays can cause you to look at the current state of your home with a critical eye. Knowing that people will be over can make you take notice of things that you generally ignore. If you noticed that the paint in your home is looking a little drab as you put up the tree then you may want to freshen it up this season.

There are a few different ways you can freshen up a dull paint job. The options range from quick and simple to a complete interior paint job. The right choice for you depends on your needs and timeframe.

Wash away dullness

Sometimes all a dull wall needs to look new is a good scrubbing. Dirt, dust, and grime can get on your wall over time. This is especially true around walkways and doorways where people touch the wall or scuff up against it with their shoes. A wall can quickly start to look grimy when the dirt and oil from people’s hands get transferred onto it. If you have children you may notice more dirty spots with unknown origins. Dusting and scrubbing your walls if needed can be a quick and inexpensive way to freshen them up.

Direct the eye with color

Sometimes it takes more than wiping down the walls to freshen up a paint job. If the only real option for freshening up your interior paint for the holidays is a new coat then you likely feel overwhelmed. It may be too much to paint the all of your walls but if you have the time and energy to paint just one wall, it could be enough. An accent wall that is a different color will attract the eye of everyone who comes inside your house. Your guests will be focused on the fresh paint of your accent wall instead of the dull paint on the rest of the walls. This works best if the accent color is darker than the surrounding walls. An accent color can freshen up the look of your walls for the holidays without the extra effort required to paint the whole interior. You can get to the rest of the walls once the guests go home!

Bring in professional help

If you are determined to have your walls painted before the holidays then your best bet is professional help. You may be surprised at how quickly and efficiently a professional painting contractor can paint the interior of your home. A top notch painting company will have the tools, experience, and methods needed to get the job done with minimal disruption to your life.

The holidays are upon us but that does not mean it is too late to get your home in great shape before guests arrive. Cleaning your walls, adding an accent color, or a whole new coat of paint all have the potential to freshen up the whole look of your interior.
